Volunteer At Texas Pawprints
Volunteers are always welcome and boy do we need them. Currently, we need volunteers in several aspects of our organization. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at volunteer@texaspawprints.org or visit Petsmart (see address above) to sign-up.
-
Shelter - Our shelter needs volunteers to
help with general maintenance and care of the facility and
cats.
-
Adoption Events - Help out at weekend adopt-a-pet
events at Petsmart, Pet Supplies Plus and other venues in
East Dallas.
-
Pet Transportation - Transportation is all that is required.
All expenses (excluding gas) are paid by Texas Pawprints. We need drivers to transport animals
to and from the vet when needed, pick-up cats that are abandoned by owner at Petsmart, and pick-up
cats whose owners are incapable of delivering them. We would also appreciate volunteers
who can pickup our supplies (litter, food, etc) and drop them off at the shelter.
-
Phone Support - Once a pet has been adopted,
we need volunteers to make follow-up calls to new adoptors.
-
Fostering - Of course, what these cats need
more than anything is a foster parent to bring them into their
home until they have a permanant home. Though we have people
at the shelter 10+ hours a day, it's not the same as being in
a foster home and getting all the individual attention a foster
can provide. Older cats, moms and kittens and stressed cats
especially do better in foster homes.

Name: Roz
Age: 2
Sex: F
Breed: American Shorthair
History:
Roz is a couple of years old. She and her sister Daphne were released by her owner due to health problems. Roz is very sociable and doesn´t mind being picked up. She loves to get attention and will lay in your lap and rub her face on you. She is very much a lap cat. Roz would love a home where she could give all of her love to a family needing a cuddler.
Roz is currently in a foster home until she is adopted. Her foster, Maggie, has successfully brought her back to an acceptable weight from a bout of depression and refusal to eat in the shelter. She is being fostered with several other cats and a large dog and she gets along well with all. To read all about Roz and how she is doing with the weight gain, please see her foster blog
Update: 9/24/2007 Roz is now classified as a special needs kitty. Poor Roz. Somewhere she caught the Feline Herpes virus. But she is fortunate in that the ulcer on her eye is healing just fine with the close care of one of DFW´s fine opthamologists. She is currently only on eye drops and her Dr. does not believe she will need surgery to remove the ulcer. Since she does have the virus, she will always be in danger of getting another ulcer, but if she is kept on a maintenance dose of L-Lysene powder every day, her chances of another outbreak are small. And this new obstacle has not altered her vision, nor has it altered her desire to be cuddled. Currently, Roz´s favorite place to sleep is "princess and the Pea" like on multiple stacked feather pillows. And she enjoys being the only kitty in the foster home with Pink Toes and a Pink Nose which are doted after daily.
