Vincent had been living the hard life as a Tom cat on the streets until one day a family decided to heal all his wounds and take him into their home. He is described as a loving cat, however, he is a bit aggressive towards other cats and so he needs to be the only cat in a household.
Due to Vincent´s hard life on the streets, he has picked up FIV. Vincent is currently healthy, though and is expected to live quite some time as a good loyal cat. Other adoptors tell us that their FIV positive cats are currently up to 15 years old and are still perfectly healthy.
He just needs a family that is understanding of his condition and who will accept that he shouldn´t have any cat brothers and sisters. His current owner is quite upset about having to let him go, but his aggression towards her other cats is making it a necessity. Here is what she has to say about Vincent:
"He absolutely LOVES to be petted, especially scratched on the cheeks, behind the ears and on top of his head. He has this full bodied, vibrating motor of a purr like a big cat. He enjoys napping in the window and is very vocal when I first get home and he hears my voice. He gives fantastic hugs with his whole body, wrapping his long tail around my legs. Vincent is a catnip kitty and loves to lick and rub anything that has the scent on it! He is very quick when playing and chasing his toys. I had him neutered about a month ago. He is FIV+ but completely healthy. He is still fully armed with 4 paws of claws but he does not use them when jumping in laps or on furniture. He took to his jumbo sized litter box right away. I give him 2 kinds of vitamins daily. He weighs about 15 pounds and judging by the size of his feet he should probably be even bigger than he is! Vincent is an incredibly sweet, loving boy that will make someone extremely lucky to be owned by him. He should be able to adjust to living with dogs but should be the only prince of the palace in kitty kingdom. "
Update 8-6-07 - Here is a listing of the vitamins that Vincent is taking They are optional, but are recommended by Vincent´s vet to keep his immune system in good shape:
Ambrotose - an immune support formula
Nu-Cat liquid - multi-vitamin
Also, Vincent is currently on an antihistamine for some allergic spots on his front right leg. This allergy could be anything from a flea allergy to a food allergy. Both of which should be manageable with some patience and education.

Name: Roz
Age: 5 yrs 5 mos
Sex: F
Breed: American Shorthair
History:
Roz is a couple of years old. She and her sister Daphne were released by her owner due to health problems. Roz is very sociable and doesn´t mind being picked up. She loves to get attention and will lay in your lap and rub her face on you. She is very much a lap cat. Roz would love a home where she could give all of her love to a family needing a cuddler.
Roz is currently in a foster home until she is adopted. Her foster, Maggie, has successfully brought her back to an acceptable weight from a bout of depression and refusal to eat in the shelter. She is being fostered with several other cats and a large dog and she gets along well with all. To read all about Roz and how she is doing with the weight gain, please see her foster blog
Update: 9/24/2007 Roz is now classified as a special needs kitty. Poor Roz. Somewhere she caught the Feline Herpes virus. But she is fortunate in that the ulcer on her eye is healing just fine with the close care of one of DFW´s fine opthamologists. She is currently only on eye drops and her Dr. does not believe she will need surgery to remove the ulcer. Since she does have the virus, she will always be in danger of getting another ulcer, but if she is kept on a maintenance dose of L-Lysene powder every day, her chances of another outbreak are small. And this new obstacle has not altered her vision, nor has it altered her desire to be cuddled. Currently, Roz´s favorite place to sleep is "princess and the Pea" like on multiple stacked feather pillows. And she enjoys being the only kitty in the foster home with Pink Toes and a Pink Nose which are doted after daily.
