Jack-Jack Needs a Home

Jack-Jack

Name:  Jack-Jack

Age:  4 yrs 2 mos

Date of Birth:  Jul 4, 2006

Sex:  M

Breed:  Domestic Medium Hair

Markings:  Black

History:

Jack-Jack was originally taken in by the DFW Humane Society. He was transferred to our shelter because he is FIV positive and we are one of the few shelters who will accept FIV positive animals.

Jack is in need of a home that will take his needs into account. Not only is Jack FIV positive, but one of his exams at the Humane Society revealed a heart murmur. Jack-Jack should lead a happy life as long as he is well cared for and he receives regular medical checkups.

Jack-Jack should also be placed in a home without small children.

Medical Information:

Jack-Jack has been tested and the results are in. We do not declaw animals as we see it as an inhumane practice, however we will arrange for you pet to be spayed/neutered at no cost when they are old enough to undergo the procedure.

Featured Cat

Name:  Roz

Age:  5 yrs 5 mos

Sex:  F

Breed:  American Shorthair

History:

Roz is a couple of years old. She and her sister Daphne were released by her owner due to health problems. Roz is very sociable and doesn´t mind being picked up. She loves to get attention and will lay in your lap and rub her face on you. She is very much a lap cat. Roz would love a home where she could give all of her love to a family needing a cuddler.

Roz is currently in a foster home until she is adopted. Her foster, Maggie, has successfully brought her back to an acceptable weight from a bout of depression and refusal to eat in the shelter. She is being fostered with several other cats and a large dog and she gets along well with all. To read all about Roz and how she is doing with the weight gain, please see her foster blog

Update: 9/24/2007 Roz is now classified as a special needs kitty. Poor Roz. Somewhere she caught the Feline Herpes virus. But she is fortunate in that the ulcer on her eye is healing just fine with the close care of one of DFW´s fine opthamologists. She is currently only on eye drops and her Dr. does not believe she will need surgery to remove the ulcer. Since she does have the virus, she will always be in danger of getting another ulcer, but if she is kept on a maintenance dose of L-Lysene powder every day, her chances of another outbreak are small. And this new obstacle has not altered her vision, nor has it altered her desire to be cuddled. Currently, Roz´s favorite place to sleep is "princess and the Pea" like on multiple stacked feather pillows. And she enjoys being the only kitty in the foster home with Pink Toes and a Pink Nose which are doted after daily.
